Bidet Bliss

by Nikki Willhite

As part of our retirement planning my husband and I decided to prepare our home so that we could stay in it as long as possible. We did things like installing laminate flooring, for potential wheelchairs, and repairing or replacing everything in our house that looked to be problematic down the road. We also simplified our landscaping and our finances. The last thing we did was to install a bidet toilet seat.

Most people are literally afraid of bidets, and they laugh at the very word. It is sad, because a bidet can not only make your life easier, it can save it. Women are prone to bladder infections, and bladder infections can be very, very serious. The cleanliness of a bidet can lead to less of them. When later in life it becomes more difficult to care for your personal hygiene, bidets make for simple living.

Bidets are easy to use. If you donít want to use the controls, you donít have to. You just use the toilet as usual. However, the bidet toilet seat is heated. The water that cleans you is heated. The air that dries you is heated. Once you try the bidet toilet seat you will never be happy with a plain toilet seat again.

The hardest part of installing a bidet toilet seat is bringing an electric outlet near the toilet. Once you have that in place you just replace the toilet seat you already have with the bidet seat.

Bidets toilet seats come at all price points, depending on their features. Most bidet toilet seats have heated water and seats, as well as night lighting, fans and scent. Bathroom odors become a thing of the past. Less toilet paper is needed and bathroom safety is improved with the night light in the bidet.

Donít overlook the comfort, convenience and safety of a bidet. Elderly people maintain their dignity when they donít need someone to clean up after them. This is one modern convenience that has been overlooked by a majority of people. Donít be one of them!
