batteries

Save money with a battery tester.  There are batteries that must always be working, such as those that go into smoke alarms.  Even the most thrift conscious people change them every 6 months.  However, these batteries are not spent, and can be used for other items.  Test them to make sure they are worth keeping, and then use them elsewhere.

You save money using rechargeable batteries on items like digital cameras and flashlights.

Frugal footnotes:

Here are some frugal tips to help save money on batteries.

- Use rechargeable batteries. They pay for themselves before their life is over in about 3-5
  years.

- Although there is still controversy on this issue, just to be safe,  let your rechargeable
batteries drain before recharging.

- Do not put your batteries in the freezer.
