Christmas Decorations: Outside

outside Christmas decorations

Save money with Christmas lights outside your home by repurposing many items you already own to give structure to light displays.  Many garden items can be brought out in the front yard for stringing lights, such as tomato cages.  Be creative and you will find many thrift friendly items you can repurpose and then return to their original use. Use the architecture and the landscaping of your home as inspiration, but use wire and other items to make fun holiday shapes like stars.

Frugal footnotes:

Here are some more frugal tips for the outside of your home during the holidays.

- Don't scatter your decorations around your yard.  Group them together in an artistic
way to make less seem like more and make more of an impact.

- Check out the big box stores after Christmas for heavily marked down outside decorations for the following year.

- Hobby Lobby has a wide range of Christmas items marked down after Christmas.

- Estate sales almost always have a few decorations.  Get there early and you will find
them.
