Food: Storage

food sealer

Save money storing food by using this thrift friendly alternative to vacuum bag sealers. Put your food in a plastic baggie.  Close it, leaving just enough room for a straw.  Suck out the air, and then seal it up.

Here are some more frugal tips to save money storing food.

- Always store food in a cool, dry place.

- Date sealed food.  Use and rotate in a timely manner.

- Most canned foods come with expiration dates.  They are hard to see.  Before putting
food in your pantry, write the dates on the cans with a black marking pin.

- Be consistent in taking food from your cupboards.  I always put the new cans on the
right, and take from the left when I am cooking. It is an easy way to rotate food.
