Freddie the Freezer

by Nikki Willhite
Freddie the Freezer is one of my favorite frugal friends. He saves me
a lot of money.
Freddie is just a little guy. He is not even
3-feet tall. I found Freddie at Sears. Someone had put him on sale. It didn't cost much to take him home.
I thought Freddie was going to be a high maintenance friend - one of those "What have you done for me lately"
kind of
friends. However, I rarely have to scrape down his
sides to remove ice, and he only costs around $2.00 a month to
keep running.
Freddie is such a help to me. When Mr. Oven produces prodigious
amounts of brownies, cookies, and other baked goods, Freddie
takes them and stores them for me. When I want them back, he
gives them back to me just as fresh as I gave them to him.
When I want to make bread, I can always count on Freddie to give
me some active yeast so my bread will rise. He also keeps lots
of butter to spread on top of it to make it taste good. If I
decide to make a pie, Freddie has the perfect topping.
Sometimes I eat like a chipmunk, and Freddie has lots of nuts to
choose from. Or, if I need some marshmallows for the kids, he's
got those too.
Freddie is health conscious. He keep lots of vegetables ready
for me to quickly heat up. He keeps all the vitamins and
minerals in the vegetables, unlike those cans with the water that takes them
away. I will admit, however, sometimes I do find candy hiding in Freddie!
Freddie is also a social creature. Should unexpected company
come to the door, Freddie is full of frozen chicken breasts, sirloin
burgers and other things I can feed to my guests.
Freddie can be so kind!
When I get hot, I can count of Freddie to give me a cold,
refreshing treat.
If you haven't found your own Freddie, you are missing a
G.R.E.A.T.
frugal friend.
