Tips Accessories - Limit the number of accessories in the room, and avoid any appearance of clutter.  Color - Keep color light on the wall, and make sure the ceiling is painted white. Furniture - Use small scale furniture in small rooms.  Armless chairs provide seating without taking up space. Light - Bring as much light into the room as possible.  Keep draperies pulled back from the window.  Mirrors - Use mirrors to visually expand space.  See Mirror Decor Multipurpose - Multipurpose as many items as possible, such as using coffee tables with storage, and bookcases as end tables. Walls - Take advantage of walls and hang shelves for storage and display. If you need a lot of shelf space, put it all together instead of spreading it throughout the room.  Use one wall, and put up floor to ceiling shelves.  If the wall has a door, continue the shelving over the door.
