Tips
Bulk Shopping - Costco and
other warehouse stores often sell spices for ethnic food in bulk. Buy in
bulk and freeze some of it, or shop with a friend and divide it up when you come
home.
Ingredients - Most ethnic
food has one or two ingredients specific to the culture. Sometimes you can
get the unique flavor by just adding one of the ingredients. Save money by
just using the ingredient that makes the biggest difference.
Measurements - Be careful
when adding ethnic spices to food. Some of them are very strong.
Shopping - You usually
find ethnic food and spices at lower prices at stores specializing in specialty
food. For example, here in the Northwest we have a lot of Asian markets
that sell rice, spices, and other products at a much better price than the chain
store grocery stores. |
