Books - Recently we had a relative come and visit us and
he mentioned that he was looking to read a book that we happened to have. We
purchased the book many years ago, and is now out of print. There is nothing
special about that book. It isn't very big, nor was it all the popular. However,
because they aren't printing it anymore, it is selling for over $50 on sites
like Amazon. That was a shocker. Just another idea where you might be able to
pick up some extra cash.
Craig's List - How many items do you have in your home
that you are just not using? Probably more than you think. Some examples may be
CD's, movies, books, magazines, sheet music, linens, fabrics, clothing,
pictures, dishes, small appliances, and even furniture. It may not be summer,
but you can sell these things and make a profit. Consider listing these items on
ebay or Craig's List. Craig's List is a great place to post large items for sale
and there are no selling fees. Lately I've seen a lot of craft and smaller items
also.
Garage Sales - If you are a person who holds garage sales, be sure and
save the packaging for everything that you think you may eventually sell. Items
sell much higher with the original packaging, manuals, etc. When you have young
children, you almost always have things like clothing and toys that they will
outgrow. Save the boxes, hangers, tags, or anything that will make the items
more attractive.
Pictures - Pick up some old calendars at the end of the year when they
are heavily discounted. You can find very inexpensive picture frames at
thrift stores. Frame the pictures, and sell them at garage sales and
bazaars to make extra money
Scheduling Garage Sales - Most garage sales are held in the spring or
the summer. This is also the time when cities and communities have annual
outdoor events. Be sure and check the schedule of the towns in your area to make
sure there are no conflicting events on the day you plan to have your sale so
that you won't lose potential buyers to these events.
