Clothing - If you have a child who is very self-conscious about their
clothes, think about only buying a few items before school starts. They will
probably feel better about their clothing if they buy it after they see what
they other kids are wearing.
Manners - If you can afford it, take your children out to a
restaurant a few times a year. It is a good opportunity to teach them good
manners and etiquette. One of the more economical restaurants for families is
one that serves Mexican food. You can often buy just a few meals, and then
divide them up. You can use the free chips for dips with the refried beans, or
wrap them in soft tortillas to make burritos. Most meals also come with 2
entrees- which you can also split up. The one thing you don't want to skimp on
is the tip. Explain to your children why you are leaving it- and help them to
realize that you are remembering and helping the family of the person who served
you.
Toilet Paper - If
you have little kids, be sure and smash down the roll of toilet paper before
you put it on the holder. This will keep your kids from spinning it round
and round... just for the fun of it.
Vegetables - If you have trouble getting your children to
eat their vegetables, and are getting frustrated throwing away food, here is a
tip for you. Try slipping some of them in foods they like. For example, when you
fry hamburger, put in some chopped broccoli.
