Should Frugal People Pay
Tithing
by Nikki Willhite
They are many reasons people are frugal. For the vast majority of
people, however, it is because of necessity. When money is tight, and it must be
carefully budgeted.
What if you are a person of faith? What if you believe that you
should be paying tithing to your Church?
If you are struggling with money, do you believe that you should
be held accountable to pay tithing?
There are many people who would say "no." I've heard the
comments, such as "That money could be put to better use."
I have to disagree with that. There is nothing that nurtures a
person's soul, and makes them feel better about themselves than to help others
and to exercise faith.
Just because someone has limited funds, does not mean they should
be denied the blessings that come from paying tithing.
Everyone should be allowed to give. It is ironic that
statistically those with the least amount of money give the highest percent of
their income to charity.
When you do without something, you come to value it more. Those
without money know how important it is for others to have it. Therefore they
make every effort to share what they have with others.
People with money are not always the happiest people. People with
faith are almost always happy.
Don't judge those who want to share what they have with other
people with their tithes and offerings. Allow them the spiritual blessings of
their faith.
