Frugally Free
by Nikki Willhite
Some people think that when you are frugal, you are limiting
yourself and taking away your freedom to do what you want.
In actuality, the exact opposite is true. When you are frugal,
and save money, you are making yourself free and giving yourself more choices.
Anyone who has ever had any of their major life's choices limited
by the lack of money knows what I am talking about.
Some people's lives are very easy when they are young. However,
problems always loom on the horizon. Some people go longer than others before
they are faced with difficult situations. No one I have ever known has
made it through life without problems of some nature.
Money does not solve all problems, but it does make bad
situations easier to handle. When money is not involved, it takes one issue off
the table.
I recently read that 1 in 5 people are forced into an early
retirement. This is usually due to either health problems or job loss.
Unfortunately pension plans are rare these days, so if you don't
have a substantial amount of money set aside, retirement can be difficult. You
are lucky if you make it that long before you have to face some of life's
challenges.
You must use your time, and your labor to save money to insulate
yourself from experiencing the worst scenarios when problems arise.
In addition to the unfavorable challenges that come your way in
life, the good things take money. Education, weddings, buying houses, and
vacations can be wonderful things The one thing they share in common is the need
for money.
You will enjoy your vacation a lot more if you don't spend months
or even years paying for it when you return home.
A couple will have a much better start in life without the debt
of a wedding or honeymoon hanging over their heads.
You can never discharge a student loan, and it will follow you
the rest of your life. Getting rid of a student loan is one of the greatest
feelings of freedom many people experience, other than their mortgage.
Living a responsible, conservative debt free live is freedom.
Debt, on the other hand, is bondage to your creditors. Which one sounds better
to you- the freedom of being debt free, or having a long list of creditors
to whom you owe money?
Use your money wisely, get out of debt, and stay out of debt.
Attack your debt with all the wisdom, skill, energy and time that you have.
I've never known one person who not happy to get out of debt.
Make a goal to become frugally free.
