Garden Tools: Storage

Save money making your garden tools last as long as possible and thrift friendly by storing them properly.  Tools are made of metal, and subject to rust. Store them in a dry area. Before you put them away for the season, clean them off and spray them with a little WD-40 to prevent rust.

Here are some more frugal tips to save money on garden tools.

- Don't leave tools outside to rust.

- Buy quality tools.  They are safer and will last.

- A cheap hose will get brittle and crack in a few years.  A quality hose will last for years.
Bring your hoses inside for the winter.

- Don't buy items you don't use frequently.  Share with friends and neighbors.

- Check garage sales for yard items.  The population is aging and people are moving to
condos and no longer need yard items.  Look for estate sales.

- Keep your tools sharp and repair handles instead of replacing them when necessary.
