Gifts: Wrapping

wrapped gift

Save money wrapping gifts by using thrift friendly wrapping paper and ribbon.  Buy wrapping paper when it goes on sales after Christmas in solid colors that you can use throughout the year. Other frugal items you can use for wrapping gifts all year are the comics, butcher block paper, calendar pictures, and leftover wallpaper.

Raffia is an inexpensive way to put ribbon on a present, and looks very good with butcher paper.

Here are some more frugal tips to save money on wrapping paper.

- Pretty magazine pictures make nice wrapping paper.
- Large inexpensive tablecloths work well for wrapping large presents.
- When possible, use a portion of the present for the gift wrap.  For example, a large towel can be used to wrap other towels and given a festive look with ribbons.
- Tissue paper costs less than traditional wrapping paper.
- Save wrapping paper after gifts are opened.  You can iron it to get out the wrinkles, and/or you can shred it for filler for gift bags.
