Save money on hampers by using duffle bags for dirty clothing. Duffle bags are easily sewn and are thrift friendly.  Give each family member their own duffle bag and make it easy for them to carry their own dirty clothing to the washing machine, and when of appropriate age, to do it themselves.

Here are more frugal tips to save money on hampers.

- Buy hampers with a liner that you can wash with each load, or make a cloth liner for your hamper.  Wash the cloth with each load to keep clothing cleaner.   If the cloth in the hamper tears, you can easily repair it with your sewing machine.

- Any light plastic container will serve as a hamper.  If you want to use a heavier container, you will either need a liner, which you can easily make out of fabric, or a portable plastic hamper to transfer the clothes to the laundry room.

- To make life easier, just give each person in your family a light, portable plastic hamper for their closet or a duffel bag.
