Houseplants

houseplant

Frugal people buy their houseplants small and then let them grow.  It takes time and patience, but it is thrift friendly.  As your plants grow, move them to larger containers.  Rotate them so all sides are exposed to the sun.  If you go on vacation, and you don't have anyone to water your plants, put a tiny hole in a water bottle and set it inside the plant container.

Here are some more frugal tips to save money on houseplants.

- Turn them periodically so the sun will hit all sides of them.

- Keep dust off them by spraying them with water in the sink or bathtub.

- Don't overwater them.  If you feel moisture when you put you finger in the soil, they are fine.

- Cut off dead or diseased foliage.

- Fertilizer you house plants for hearty growth.

- Use egg shells and the old water from fish bowls for inexpensive plant fertilizer.
