Kitchens: Decorating and Pot Holders

Save money and space making your own pot hanger or pot rack to store your pots.  Find an inexpensive ladder, cut it to the right size, and refinish or paint it.  Attach it to the ceiling, and use S hooks to hang your pots and pans.

Frugal footnotes:

Here are some more frugal tips to hang pots.

- You can also hang pots from the walls.  Build a shelf, and then put hooks under it.

- Many iron and wood items can be repurposed as wall or ceiling pot racks.  Keep your eyes open at garage and thrift store sales.

- If you see an old wooden or metal pot rack, think about buying it and refinishing it.  All solid wood in good condition can be sanded down and given a new finish, and metal can often be shined up again or spray painted.

- Be mindful of scale when choosing a pot rack for your kitchen.  Get it appropriate to the size for your space and make sure it isn't blocking out needed light in your kitchen.
