Laundry: Stains

shirt with stains

Save money removing stains on fabric with this powerful thrift friendly homemade solution. Do not use this on any piece of fabric that cannot tolerate bleach.

Mix 1/4 cup of bleach and 1/2 cup of dishwasher soap into about a gallon of water.  Immerse your soiled item into the water, and let it soak for half an hour.  After soaking, run the item through the washer and dryer.

Here are some more frugal tips to save money removing stains.

- Always attend to a stain as soon as possible.  If you cannot treat it, put the garment or fabric in water to soak.
- Here here some other products found around the home that remove stains- rubbing alcohol,
glycerin, ammonia, and vinegar.  Always rinse thoroughly after using these products.
- If you cannot remove a stain, depending on where it is located you can often disguise it with an appliqué or other decorative accent.
