Apply a leather softener to your leather furniture at least once a year, and keep it out of the sun.  Leather needs to breathe, so never put leather clothing or accessories in a plastic bag. Leather is expensive.  However it becomes thrift friendly if it lasts a long time.

- Leather will crack if it gets dry.  Keep it out of the sun and away from heat sources.
- Stains are easy to remove from leather it you wipe them off quickly.  Do not wait to clean up a spill on a leather sofa.  Never use abrasive cleaners on leather.  Warm, soapy water will do the job without damaging the leather.
- Leather differs in quality.  Read the maintenance instructions on the leather items in your home.  With proper care, leather should last 20 years.
