mushrooms

Mushrooms are not a frugal food, and they have do not store for very long.  If you buy them, by thrifty by using them as soon as possible.  Take them home from the store and put them in a paper bag in the non-crisper section of your refrigerator.  They should last a couple of days.  Some of the pre-packaged ones at the grocery store will last longer.

Buy mushrooms in cans when they go on sale.  You can save  money growing your own mushrooms, but it takes a lot more knowledge than growing vegetables.
