Oranges

oranges

Oranges are a frugal and thrift conscious way to add vitamins to your diet. Save money on oranges by purchasing good quality oranges and then using them in a variety of ways. Avoid buying oranges in bags.  You can't get a good look at them or feel them individually.  Oranges in bags can be dried out and have mold growing on them. A fresh, juicy orange will be heavy from the liquid in the orange.  A dried out orange will be lighter.

Here are some additional frugal tips to save money on oranges.

- Shop at a Farmer's market.

- Use your oranges in a variety of ways.  Eat them plain, use them in fruit salads, and use them to make orange juice. Never let an orange go to waste.

- Save the rind and freeze it to use in baked goods.

- When Christmas rolls around, you can use oranges to decorate your home and give it a festive scent.  Poke holes and put cloves in the oranges, and place them in a bowl.
