Pillows: Accessories

Designer decorative pillow

Save money by sewing your own decorator pillows.  Pillows are not hard to make.  All you need are two pieces of fabric, and a pillow form or pillow stuffing.  To make pillows more thrift friendly, used pillows can be recovered.  You can also use 2 napkins for your fabric.

Frugal footnotes:

Here are some additional frugal tips to save money on decorative pillows.

- Pillows do not take a lot of fabric, especially if you use different fabric for the front and back, or use patchwork.  Making pillows makes good use of recycled fabric.

- If you need the pillow foam, it is often less expensive to buy a thrift store pillow and remove the fabric than buy a new pillow form.

- Take advantage of trims, tassels, and other decorative items on sale when making pillow.
