Refrigerators: Electricity

refrigerator

Save money and be thrift friendly with the electricity used by your refrigerator by opening the door as little as possible.  Keep leftovers toward the front of the refrigerator, and a list nearby so you know what is in the refrigerator and don't waste time looking around to see what you have with the door open.   Use a paper and pencil, or apply some chalkboard paint to the inside of a cupboard door to keep a list of items that need to be eaten.

When you bring items home from the store, group like items together, and place them near the refrigerator so you can put them in quickly.

Here are some additional frugal tips to save money running your electricity.

- No one like to pull out their refrigerator and vacuum coils or do other maintenance.  However, it you want your refrigerator to run at peak performance, using as little power as possible, you need to do it.  Follow the instructions in your manual.  If you do not have the manual for your refrigerator, find it on the Internet and either read it there or print it out.
