Soup: Homemade

tomato soup can

Frugal people make a lot of soup to use up leftover vegetables and pasta.  Save money and time by making soup quickly with your own soup starter mix.  If you don't want to make your own mix, start with a can of vegetable soup or beef bouillon, and add your own spices.

Here is a thrift friendly recipe for making soup starter.

Soup Starter

Ingredients

5 cups flour
4 cups powdered milk
1 chicken or beef bouillon
4 Tbsp. onion powder
2 tsps salt
1 1/2 tsps pepper
3 tsps Italian herbs

When you are ready to make soup, add to water at a 3:1 ratio of water to the mix.  Bring to a boil and simmer a few minutes.  Then add your leftover vegetables and pasta and heat.  Store mix in a cool, dry place.
