Save money on sewing supplies by exercising thrift and repurposing your empty thread spools.  There are a couple things you can do with them.

 

Clean them up, and then use the flat end to flatten cookies.  It makes a nice decorative design.  You can also collect your empty spools and tie them on a rope.  Children love playing with them.

Here are some additional frugal tips to save money on spools.

 

- Make a rope spool for a cat.  Use on long piece of rope, and place all the spools on the rope, separating them and tying them in position with knots.
 
- Use them to make small dollhouse tables.
 
- Use them to make feet for small boxes.
 
- Cut the spools in half vertically and use them to edge craft projects.
