You will save the most money shopping at thrift stores in upscale neighborhoods.  People with more money pass on their items with more regularity.  Their items are usually in better condition, better quality, and last longer.

Shop on the week days to find the latest deliveries.  Ask store personnel for help determining the best hours of the day.

Here are some more frugal tips to save money at thrift stores.

- Carry a tape measure and sizes of family members with you.
- Bring shoe sizes or templates of shoe sizes for family members.
- Carry samples of decorator colors used in your home.
- Keep a list with you of items to check so you don't forget to look for something you need.
- Learn to block out the "junk" and look for the "treasure."  It can be hard to find it with so many distractions. Most items look better when brought home.
