Windows: Insulation

single hung window

If you can't afford to replace your single pane windows with dual pane or Thermopane windows, save money on heat in the winter by covering them with plastic.  You can find thrift friendly plastic at the hardware store designed to seal your windows and stop air drafts.

Here are some additional frugal tips to help with window insulation.

- Make sure your windows are caulked around the edges on the outside.

- If you have small paned windows on the inside of your house, make sure there are no gaps between each window and the wood.  Reset and glaze.

- Tape up bubble wrap to insulate your windows during the cold months.
